About – eMail
Saltaire-aa domain eMail addresses
Now having a commercially hosted domain. I decided to develop an email solution that would allow committee members own email addresses to still be private and even provide email addresses for anyone who does not have a computer and internet connection at home and wishes to access the website from public computers only e.g. in libraries or from work only (during their own time).
For the service I have gone for (The Economy Plan designed for a single domain and subdomains) I will be paying under £3.50/month for 10GB storage and 300GB data usage. The package includes up to 100 email addresses with 100MB of storage to be alocated between them. Extra domains can be registered and come with a small free amount of storage but is advert supported (their adverts). But these can simply be forwarded to a fully hosted domain either invisibly or visibly redirected. The next package up (the Deluxe Plan) has unlimited websites, 150GB storage and 1500 GB transfer monthly for under £4.50 per month and up to 250 mailboxes of 1MB each. We are currently (January 2009) using less than 30MB storage.
Email addresses
I have set up a series of email addresses which correspond to committee members roles, some are duplicates, they can be setup to forward to several email addresses. The following addresses I am willing to publish. All are setup to copy and forward any email messages by role and auto-purge stale email with solid spam checking which also auto-purges more frequently.
This will ensure anonymity of committee members real email addresses and allow rapid reconfiguration should peoples roles or real email addresses change. All have solid spam checking and are setup to copy and forward to the real persons email address with auto-purge of messages beyond certain ages of email in the inbox and bulkmail folders. We may offer email accounts for some committee members where necessary. I do not plan to have a catchall mailbox, mis-addressed email (often spam) will bounce immediately. Most of the email addresses I have setup have auto-response messages. Most of the email is expected to be generated by using the email links embedded in the website. The Site has been running on US based Commercial servers since 11/11/2008 (one of the few dates totally unambiguous to both Europeans and North Americans).
Submission of photographs
Anyone wanting to submit photos to be included on the website should use the LINK on the photos page as this goes direct rather than being forwarded through the saltaire-aa.org email system and thus avoid the 1MB per mailbox limit. By submitting them you are delegating copyright to the association. Articles for inclusion on the Website or the Blog can also be submitted by email using one of the email links on the webpages if you don’t have the privilege to post your own articles.
